Pound cake
The other day when I was showing Dan our newly organized downstairs pantry, he saw the box of cake flour and commented that I hadn't made pound cake in quite awhile. I got this recipe several years ago when we lived in Lincoln. One of Dan's co-workers, Karl, made it for a potluck one night and it was so delicious and moist. It freezes well, but around here it never lasts that long. Here is the recipe:
1 1/2 cups butter, room temperature
3 cups sugar
6 eggs, room temperature
1 cup sour cream
1 1/2 T vanilla
3 cups cake flour
1/4 tsp baking soda
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and mix well. Mix in sour cream and vanilla. Add cake flour and baking soda. Butter and flour a bundt pan. Pour in batter. Bake for 2 hours at 300 or until a toothpick inserted near center comes out clean.
