Potty training stinks. . . . literally
We've recently begun working with Natalie on potty training again. I had given up for quite awhile since she seemed to continually have accidents and diapers are just a whole lot easier than wet and poopy panties. Natalie has been able to sense when she needs to go to the bathroom for quite awhile but hasn't really had the desire. So when we were in Des Moines last week I was re-inspired to kick it in gear.
Starting the day after we got home, I started putting her in panties again and taking her to the bathroom every couple of hours. I also started rewarding her with chocolate chips every time she used the toilet. After a few days I switched to rewarding her every time she was dry. So the last few days I've been rewarding her less and she's been doing a pretty good job. I've even ventured out of the house with no diaper on her--a very scary thought for me. I had nightmares of walking through Hy-Vee only to hear "Mommy, I stinky."
Then today happened. Two poopy accidents all in the space of 10 minutes!! Arghh!! She is still in panties now, though I was quite tempted to put a diaper back on her. However, I am determined to win and I refuse to buy another package of diapers. I have several cloth ones that I can use but I have only a few disposables left. At least now she doesn't want to wear diapers. That in itself is a huge milestone for her.
