Colorado vacation post #3
After being gone all day on Friday, we decided to spend Saturday and Sunday just hanging out at the cabin. It was wonderful. I read quite a bit while the kids played. The cabin we stayed at was at around 9000 feet so it took us a couple of days to get adjusted to the altitude. We had hoped to get more hiking in than we did but aside from adjusting to the altitude, we all got a cold. By Saturday night Ellie had a fever and wasn't feeling so great. But we still had a good time--thanks to the Tylenol I brought along. Dan did have to run into town to pick up some DayQuil and NyQuil but the rest that I needed I had brought along.
Our cabin was on 5 acres so the kids had plenty of room to roam. I took the kids around the property so they would know where to play (they were unsure initially where to go and so stayed close to the house) and then they had fun playing house. They took some blankets down into the wooded area and set up house there, complete with pretend fire (made of pine cones) and kitchen. We also had a very large deck which was partly covered so the kids had fun playing there, especially when it was hot.
